A man who police said stole and used a credit card was arrested after surveillance video caught him in the act.
Gregory Scott Brack, 46, of Cottontail Lane, is charged with entering auto, financial transaction card theft and financial transaction card fraud, Statesboro Public Safety Director Wendell Turner said.
Around 10 a.m.. Monday, police responded to 180 Fitness in reference to a reported theft from a vehicle. Brack “gained illegal entry into a vehicle and took a credit card out of the victim’s wallet,” Turner said. “Thanks to cooperation from 180 Fitness and their high quality video surveillance system, Detective Ben Purvis was able to obtain images showing the suspect and the suspect’s vehicle”
Further investigation showed Brack used the stolen credit card at several locations in the area after it was reported stolen, Turner said.
While on the lookout for the vehicle Brack used when the crime occurred, which also was identified in surveillance video, Detective Tommy Brown spotted a vehicle at the Statesboro Regional Library matching the description, Turner said.
After identifying the driver as Brack, the offender from the entering auto incident, Brown arrested him and took him to the Bulloch County Jail, where he awaits further court proceedings, Turner said.
