A Georgia Southern University student with connections to the Eagles football team was arrested Saturday in Milledgeville on aggravated assault charges.
Garrett Thomas Smith, age not immediately available, entered a Cobblestone Park Drive home and physically attacked another man, according to Milledgeville police reports.
Smith and two other men entered the male victim’s home uninvited. One man held a witness back, keeping him from helping the victim, while Smith punched the victim in the face, reports state.
The victim told police he blacked out and awoke in the bathtub, suffering from a contusion to the eye and a bloody nose. After being transported to the hospital, he was also diagnosed with a mild concussion, reports state.
Smith, who was once on the GSU Eagles scouting squad and is not currently on the team roster, videotaped the Eagles during 2012 practice sessions.
Smith was released from the Baldwin County Jail on a $50,000 bond and awaits court hearings. He was charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats and acts, and criminal trespass.
