All four suspects in a Dec. 9 armed robbery attack in Brooklet are now behind bars, said Brooklet Police Chief Doug Meyer.
One man was arrested shortly after the armed robbery, during which the suspects pistol-whipped a man before stealing an Xbox gaming system he was selling, Meyer said. Garry Matthews, 17, of Rushing Street in Brooklet, was jailed on charges of armed robbery, aggravated assault and obstruction.
Meyer said the victim met with the suspects around 6:30 p.m. near Prince Street and Julia Circle in Brooklet to sell them the gaming system, but instead they attacked him and took the Xbox, cash and other items before fleeing.
As the investigation developed, warrants were issued for Willie Fred Watson, 43, of Packinghouse Road in Statesboro, and Dontell Jartavis Lee, 19, of Mallard Road in Brooklet, on charges of armed robbery and aggravated assault. A fourth suspect, Benjamonica Shkovia Lee, 17, of Packinghouse Road, was identified and also charged with armed robbery and aggravated assault. All three suspects were arrested last week and joined Matthews in the Bulloch County Jail, Meyer said.
All four are being held without bond, awaiting further court hearings, according to jail records.
The victim was not seriously injured, and most of the stolen items were recovered, Meyer said.
