If you need some help planning that economical "staycation," First Friday could have what you need.
The theme for First Friday this month is "Staycation." It takes place from 5:30-8 p.m. on the Bulloch County Courthouse lawn. The event features family-friendly activities, food and more.
Staycation invites people to come out and see all of the exciting things Statesboro and the surrounding communities have to offer during the summer. Boats, travel trailers, off-road vehicles, motorcycles and new cars will all be parked on Siebald Street.

Splashy, the mascot for Splash in the Boro, The Clubhouse, and a number of vendors will have vacation ideas. Those include churches promoting their Vacation Bible Schools, the Georgia Southern University Museum, George L. Smith State Park and the Statesboro Convention and Visitors Bureau.

There will be a grand opening for The Flower Girl and ETC at 116 Savannah Ave. on. Jackie Hane, the owner of The Flower Girl, said she relocated because "Downtown is where it's at. There is a more sense of community down here. I just love the atmosphere."

There will also be a grand opening for Trey Anderson's new downtown store, Fleurish, at 65 E. Main Street. The store will showcase its treasures and have free gifts, giveaways and refreshments.
