Excelsior EMC to hold 79th Annual Meeting on Friday

               Excelsior EMC's 79th Annual Meeting of Members will be held Friday at the Nessmith-Lane Conference Center on the campus of Georgia Southern University in Statesboro.
        Registration for the meeting begins at 1:30 p.m.
        The business session will begin at 2:30 p.m. and will contain reports on the operation of the Cooperative during the past year, as well as information concerning ongoing projects and future challenges for the organization.
        Additional highlights of the meeting include the election of directors, presentation of employee service awards and door prizes for lucky members in attendance.
        Ice cream will be served to all attendees after adjournment of the meeting.
        Excelsior EMC is an electrical distribution cooperative serving more than 22,514 consumers in parts of eight southeast Georgia counties across 3,295 miles of power line. Counties served include Bryan, Bulloch, Candler, Effingham, Emanuel, Evans, Jenkins, and Tattnall. Annual kilowatt hour (kWh) sales exceeded 388 million kWhs in 2016.
        The Georgia Public Service Commission's Winter 2017 Residential Rate Survey indicated that Excelsior EMC was among the lowest cost providers of electricity among Georgia Power and 40 other electric cooperatives in the state. At the 1,000 kWhs usage level, Excelsior EMC ranked 5th lowest in the state. At the 1,500 kWhs usage level Excelsior EMC ranked 6th lowest, and at the 2,000 kWhs usage level, Excelsior EMC ranked 6th lowest. The average sized home with 1,500 to 1,800 square feet of living area will use approximately 1,500 to 2,000 kWhs per month when heating and cooling is required.
        Excelsior EMC's headquarters office is located in Metter, and a branch office is located in Statesboro.
        The Metter office will remain open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. while the Statesboro office will close at 11:30 a.m. the day of the Annual Meeting.
