Bulloch County Sheriff's investigators responded to a Mt. Pisgah Church Road location early Thursday in response to a report of a body found. There, they discovered the body of a man "about 30 feet off the shoulder, in the woods," said Chief Deputy Gene McDaniel.
Mt. Pisgah Church Road is in the northwestern corner of Bulloch County near the "Fish Trap" community.
The man was identified as Jimmy Lamont Devine, 27, Harvey Wilson Road, he said.
No foul play is suspected in Devine's death. "It does not appear to be the result of a crime," he said.
Deputies were called to the scene around 8:30 a.m. , he said.
After speaking to family members who identified the body, investigators suspect Devine may have succumbed to a seizure, exposure to cold temperatures or both, he said.
Recent temperatures have dipped into the low 30's and even lower overnight.
"There is no obvious cause of death," McDaniel said. He had no further information on Devine's health issues regarding whether he had a history of seizures.
The Bulloch County Coroner's office responded to the scene and had Devine's body transported to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab in Savannah for an autopsy, he said.
