A man who robbed a convenience store at gunpoint Tuesday night was caught on camera, and Bulloch County sheriff’s investigators hope residents will identify him from surveillance video footage.

The clerk on duty at The Snack Barrel on Georgia Highway 46 and Sinkhole Road was outside the store around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday when a black male in a navy blue hooded sweatshirt approached him, asking if the store was still open so he could buy cigarettes, Bulloch County sheriff’s Investigator Jared Akins said.

The suspect entered the store before the clerk did, and stood by the counter for a few minutes before pulling a handgun and demanding cash, Akins said.

After the robbery, the suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, Bulloch County Sheriff Lynn Anderson said.

“Deputies secured the scene and searched the immediate area with canines, but were unsuccessful in locating the subject,” the sheriff said.

Akins said the suspect fled from the store on foot, but it is unknown whether he got into a car waiting nearby.

The clerk was uninjured, Anderson said.

Store surveillance video was released to media sources in hopes someone will recognize the suspect, he said.

“Anyone with information on the identity of the armed robber should contact Inv. Dustin Williams at (912) 764-1703 or submit an anonymous tip to tips@bullochsheriff.com,” he said.
