Four Bulloch County Sheriff's deputies recently completed training at the Georgia Peace Officers Training Center in Forsyth, said Capt. Howard Nesmith.

Deputies John Staten and Fred Cotton each completed a 40-hour courtroom security course which enables officers to improve upon  the level of security provided for courthouse personnel, witnesses and spectators. The course included techniques for dealing with particular high-risk situations.

Cpl. Noel Brown and Cpl. Keith Stone each completed a 40-hour course in Level 1 Supervision, Nesmith said. The introductory course was the first of three required for POST Supervisory certification. The course included topics such as supervisory roles, responsibilities, managing information, planning, communication, health and wellness, ethics, civil liability and organization.
