Tai-ri Darnell Crocker, wanted by police in connection to a shooting death in Statesboro Friday morning, was apprehended late Friday night in South Carolina.
Jeffrey Lee Raymond died early Friday morning after being transported to the hospital with gunshot wounds, according to Statesboro police co\Community Information Specialist Madison Warren.
Detectives identified Crocker, 33, of Lithia Springs, as a suspect in the homicide. Warning the public that Crocker was "armed and dangerous," they issued warrants for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Additional charges are pending, Warren said,
Around 6 a.m., police responded to a call of a gunshot victim at Baymont Inn and Suites on South Main Street in Statesboro. Raymond, 34, was reportedly shot on the fourth floor and made his way to the lobby, where someone called 911. He was taken to the hospital, where he died of his injuries, said Bulloch County Coroner Jake Futch
Raymond's body was taken to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab in Savannah Friday and an autopsy is slated for Monday, he said.
