Mr. and Mrs. William Lane Sutton

    William Lane Sutton and Virginia Hall Barnhardt were joined in marriage at noon on Saturday, March 20, 2010, at Myers Park Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, N.C. The Rev. Von Clemans of Myers Park Presbyterian Church and the Rev. Dr. Stephen Goyer of Riverside Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville, Fla., presided.
    The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Alan Barnhardt of Charlotte. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. William McLaughlin Barnhardt of Charlotte and the late Mr. and Mrs. Chester Wilfred Cromwell of Beech Island, S.C.
    The groom is the son of Mrs. Gail McGlamery Williams of Statesboro and Mr. Andrew Lanier Sutton Jr. of Odom, Ga. He is the grandson of Mr. W.M. McGlamery of Statesboro and the late Geraldine Lane McGlamery and Mr. Andrew Lanier Sutton Sr. of Odom and the late Marie Bennet Sutton, and is great-grandson of the late Exley and Melba Lane and the late Claude and Bertha McGlamery.
    The bride was escorted by her father and presented in marriage by her parents. Along with her bridal bouquet, she carried a hand-stitched handkerchief carried by several brides in the groom’s maternal family. The bridal attendants included her sisters, Elizabeth Barnhardt Kirkland of Chapel Hill, N.C., and Harriett Cromwell Barnhardt of Clemson, S.C., serving as matron of honor and maid of honor, respectively. Bridesmaids were college friend Mary Cathryn Williams of Chicago, Ill., and work colleague Melanie Marie Mason of Jacksonville, Fla.
    The groom’s brother, Andrew Lanier Sutton III of Smyrna, Ga., served as best man. Groomsmen included the groom’s Sigma Chi fraternity brothers Garnie Wade Rollins III and Jeremy Paul Fordham, both of Statesboro; and John Short Williams III of Edgefield, S.C.
    The bride’s cousin, Keller Barnhardt Mulligan of Charlotte, served as a Scripture reader and cousin William Cooper Campbell IV of Silver Springs, Md., performed a vocal solo. Organist Will Young and trumpet player Whit Blount provided instrumental music for the ceremony.
    A wedding reception of lunch and dancing to the music of Smitty Flynn and the Rivieras followed at Quail Hollow Country Club.
    After the wedding reception, Mr. and Mrs. William Bangle Barnhardt and Mr. and Mrs. William Cooper Campbell III hosted an informal dinner for the couple and their college friends.
    After a honeymoon in the Virgin Islands, the couple now makes their home in Jacksonville.
    The wedding party and out-of-town family enjoyed a BBQ dinner at the Mahlon Adams Pavilion in Freedom Park the night before the wedding.
    Earlier in the day on Friday, March 19, the grandmother of the bride, Mrs. William M. Barnhardt, and her sisters, Mrs. Charles Boone Saunders and Mrs. John Bunn Smith, hosted the bridesmaids' luncheon at the Myers Park Country Club.
    In February, the bride was honored at a North Carolina shower given by the bride’s two sisters together with longtime family friend, Sara Laurens Pressley, and a Florida party hosted by Myra Jones and Renee Niepoetter.
