Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Blake Lane
      Christine Marie Powell of Statesboro and Thomas Blake Lane of Millen were united in marriage on Saturday, August 5, 2006, at Pittman Park United Methodist Church. The Rev. Michael Huling performed the 6 o’clock ceremony.
    The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Timothy J. Powell of Statesboro. She is the granddaughter of Dr. and Mrs. William M. Powell of Athens, Dr. and Mrs. Theodore B. Kalivoda of St. Louis, Mo., and the late Kay I. Kalivoda of Athens.
    The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Mills Lane of Millen. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis E. Jenkins of Millen, Faye Boykin of Sylvania and the late Rufus L. Lane of Millen.
    Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, Christy wore a white satin strapless A-line gown. Satin buttons lined the back of the gown with silver beads and crystals accenting the chapel-length train. Crystals outlined the elbow-length veil. The silver tiara embellished with diamonds was accented with a diamond necklace and earrings. A hand-tied bouquet of white Eskimo roses, cream spray roses and eucalyptus completed the look.
    Matron of honor was Jennifer Ann Campbell of Athens. Bridesmaids were Brooke Lane Bowers of Millen, sister of the groom; Allison Haley Carwile of Statesboro, Josie Elaine Miller of McDonough, Amanda McCay Powell of New York, N.Y., cousin of the bride; Laura Lovelace Powell of Cary, N.C., cousin of the bride; Jessica Francis Sewell of Palmetto, cousin of the bride; Laura Jayne Sewell of Palmetto, cousin of the bride; Victoria Everett Walters of Albany and Elizabeth Dale Weaver of Charleston, S.C.
    Adorned in red, full-length satin dresses accented with tonal beads, the bridesmaids carried hand-tied bouquets of bells of Ireland, red spray roses, star fighter lilies, white monti, lily grass and pittosporum.
    Flower girls Kasey Brianna Baynon of Statesboro, Robyn Destiny Coleman of Millen and Natalie Danielle Johnson of Augusta, both cousins of the groom, wore full-length white satin gowns accented with red satin bows tied around the empire waist. They each carried a bouquet of red spray roses with baby’s breath.
    Blake chose his father, Thomas Mills Lane, as his best man. William Phillips Bowers of Millen, brother-in-law of the groom; Wesley Joe Brown of Millen, cousin of the groom; Danny Lee Burke of Millen, Jake Everett Dailey of Statesboro, Brian Adam Lane of Statesboro, Richard Lee Lane of Millen, cousin of the groom; Brian Thomas Powell of Statesboro, brother of the bride; Eddie Durrell Powell of Millen, cousin of the groom; and Jonathan Alan Powell of Millen, cousin of the groom, all served as usher/groomsmen. Aaron Hazon Baynon of Statesboro, was ring bearer. He carried a white satin pillow accented with a sheer hand-tied bow.
    Wedding music was provided by Jill Bryant, Mark Murphree and Becky Woodard.

    The guestbook was attended by Katherine Ruth Marie Kalivoda, cousin of the bride. Bailey Nevada Alsobrooks, cousin of the groom, and Kimberly Dance Powell, cousin of the bride, welcomed guests into the church.
    Following the ceremony, Blake and Christy were driven by horse-drawn carriage to the Russell Union Ballroom on the campus of Georgia Southern University where the newlyweds and guests alike were entertained by “The Positions” of Statesboro.
    Following a honeymoon to St. Martin, the couple is residing in Statesboro where the bride is the manager of Ladies Workout Express and the groom is owner of Southern Structural Construction and Contracting.
