Dr. and Mrs. William Clarence Branan of Washington, Ga., announce the engagement of their daughter, Ashley Claire Branan of Athens, Ga., to Joseph Bradley Sheffield of Statesboro, son of Mr. and Mrs. B. Ralph Sheffield of Screven, Ga.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Cobb of Athens and the late Mr. and Mrs. William D. Branan of Washington, Ga., and is the great-granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Glenn Cobb Sr. of Athens and the late Mr. and Mrs. Weyman L. Malcom of Eastville, Ga. She is a 2004 graduate of the University of Georgia with a degree in family and consumer sciences with an emphasis in child and family development. Currently, Ashley is a sales director for Mary Kay Cosmetics and marketing representative for Mal-Ad Promotions in Statesboro.
The groom-elect is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lester Dixon of Jesup and the late Mr. and Mrs. Andrew J. Sheffield of Screven. In 2001, he received a BS in mechanical engineering from Georgia Southern University and in 2003 received an MBA from GSU. He is currently a commercial banker with Sea Island Bank in Statesboro.
The couple has planned to wed on April 14, 2007, at 5 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Athens.
