Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Lane Armstrong of Statesboro announce the engagement of their daughter, Cynthia Lane, to Henry Trigg Chaplin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Vandiver Lazenby Chaplin of Birmingham, Ala.
    The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Rev. and Mrs. Jim Riley Smith of Jackson, Ga., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Fink Armstrong of Jackson. She is a 2000 graduate of Statesboro High School in Statesboro and is a 2004 graduate of Berry College of Rome, Ga., where she received a bachelor of arts in psychology with a minor in Spanish. She is employed by the Georgia Department of Human Resources, Division of Family and Child Services.
    The groom-elect is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry C. Trigg of Jacksonville, Fla., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Harold C. Chaplin of Birmingham, Ala. He is a 2000 graduate of Homewood High School in Homewood, Ala., and is a 2004 graduate of Berry College in Rome, where he received a bachelor of arts in communication and also in Spanish. He is employed by Scott Logistics in Rome.
    An early spring wedding is planned. In the fall, the couple will attend graduate school.
