The famous lyric in the song "You Can Fly" indicates that Peter Pan could indeed take to the sky. But audiences treated to a performance at Statesboro High School this week learned that those famous flying tights belonged in this production to Madelyn Wolfe — and that she, too, could fly.
Joined by Eastyn Durrence as Wendy, Michah D'Arcangelo as John and Kenzie Cannady as Michael, Wolfe and the cast led the audience on a rollicking ride through the classic children's story. Other characters included Captain Hook, played by Andrew Pittman; Smee, played by Justin Smith, Tinker Bell, played by Katie Ann Bowers; and Tiger Lily, played by Julian Schwarz.
The final performance of the production will be at 2 p.m. today. General admission is $5.
The SHS Drama Department will also perform "Mary Poppins" on April 26-27, at 9 a.m. for parents and students. Admission is $2. Public performances will be held on April 28 at 7 p.m. and April 29 at 2 p.m. General admission for those performances is $5.
Both performances are under the direction of Eddie Frazier, assisted by student directors Harlie Carter and Marissa Hendrix.
