DURHAM, N.C. — Chris Epps homered and drove in three runs to help Clemson beat Georgia Tech 9-0 in the opening game of the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament Wednesday.

Richie Shaffer and Jeff Schaus drove in two runs apiece for the sixth-seeded Tigers (40-17), who blew the game open with a five-run ninth inning to seal the victory. Dominic Leone (6-2) and David Haselden combined to limit the third-seeded Yellow Jackets to just six hits.

Jake Davies had two hits to lead Georgia Tech (39-18), while starter Mark Pope (11-4) took the loss after alowing nine hits and four earned runs in 6 2-3 innings.
