TIFTON — The Statesboro-Bulloch County Sharks swim team sent 25 swimmers to the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association state swim meet on July 18 and 19.
The athletes competed against 30 teams. The girls placed 10th overall.
The swimmers qualified for the state event at a qualifying meet held on June 26 at Spash in the Boro in Statesboro.
Qualifyers were Danielle Arnett, Mariah Arnett, Emily Beasley, Abby Bocian, Courtney Davis, Fiona Davis, Margaret Hammond, Bailey Hodges, Chloe Hodges, Hannah Kimball, Lydia Scharff, Olivia Sheppard, Hannah Smith, Holly Smith, Austyn Woods, Reed Hodges, Will Hodges, Thom Mortimore, Paul Nessmith, Gabriel Rowe, Jud Scharff, Darden Snipes, Riley Snipes, Tyler Sutcliff and Jer’on Tisby.
Chloe Hodges, 7, placed fifth in the preliminaries and dropped time to move up and medal in fourth place during the girls aged 7-8 50-yard freestyle
Jud Scharff, 15, placed during preliminaries and took home a third-place medal during finals in the boys aged 15-18 50-yard breaststroke.
Lydia Scharff, 14, placed during preliminaries and dropped time to medal second during finals in the Girls aged 13-14 50-yard freestyle. She also placed second in the 100-yard individual medley.
Woods, 12, took fourth place during finals in the girls aged 11-12 50-yard Freestyle. She took fifth in the 50-yard backstroke.
The under-18 200-yard freestyle relay team took fourth place, and the 100-relay team took seventh.
