Subway Spotlight: Portal's Kenya Huff

The Portal softball team has taken its lumps on the diamond for the last couple of seasons, but one Lady Panther is determined to get the team turned around and showed how she can single-handedly change a game.
Kenya Huff went 3-for-5 and blasted a three-run home run in the Panthers’ 14-10 victory over Statesboro last week. Holding up her end on defense as well, Huff also nailed down the win for Portal on the mound and has shored up the corners at first and third base throughout the season.
“We were really excited,” said Huff. “I know that we’ve been working hard and this season has been a little bit better for us. Hopefully, we just keep at it and keep going forward.”
Not only did Huff’s blast provide the life that Portal needed to get a win, but it was the first home run of her career.
“I didn’t know it was going to go when I hit it,” said Huff. “I just put my head down and ran. Hopefully, I’ll be able to hit some more, but I’m not going to change anything. I just want to do well and help us win in any way that I can.”
