Local Roundup - SEB hosts, wins cross country meet

    BROOKLET — The Southeast Bulloch boys and girls cross country teams hosted a meet Tuesday afternoon at the WW Mann Center.  The SEB girls team won the meet by  defeating Vidalia, Statesboro High, Screven County, and Tattnall County. 
    Deirdre Devlin took first place at the meet.  Top female runners also included KatieAnn Tucker, Susanna Smith, MereKate Schlierf, Taylor Fordham, Miranda Price and Alyssa Sanders.  The boys team placed 4th at the meet.  Top runners were Rubin Rubio, Bryce Judy, Sam Harvey, Forrest Strickland, Jehoiadia Schmidt, and Patrick Chambers. 
    The Southeast Bulloch Cross Country team will run again next Thursday at Screven County High School.

Lady Eagles face SoCon matchup
    In a change from the original schedule, the Georgia Southern women’s soccer team welcomes The Citadel on today at 4 p.m. to Eagle Field.    
    The Eagles will then travel to College of Charleston Sunday for a 1 p.m. matchup.

Pearson highlights NASCAR HoF class
    CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — David Pearson finally received his spot in the NASCAR Hall of Fame on Wednesday, earning the most votes a year after the 105-race winner was surprisingly excluded from the inaugural class.
    Three-time Daytona 500 winner Bobby Allison, whose 84 wins are tied for third on the victory list, was the second inductee announced and was followed by Lee Petty.
