Local Roundup: Screven, SEB given 3-AA soccer honors

    Six Screven County Lady Gamecocks and five Southeast Bulloch Yellow Jackets were recently awarded All-Region 3-AA soccer honors.
    Gamecocks were named both offensive and defensive players of the year. Senior Rochelle Shuman (27 goals, 7 assists) was given the offensive nod, and keeper Jessica Markovcic (eight shutouts, nine goals allowed in region play) was named defensive player of the year.
    On the All-Region 3-AA team from Screven County are Markovcic, Shuman, Hannah Thompson and Madyson Torres.
    Named to the Region 3-AA from Southeast Bulloch are Merekate Schlierf, Hannah Denmark and Casey Hadden.
    Honorable Mantion was awarded to Morgan Friend (SEB), Tori Mullis (SEB), Gentri Beckton (SCHS) and Morgan Boswell (SCHS).

BA basketball camp
    Bulloch Academy head basketball coach Chandler Dennard invites all local and area boys and girls going into grades 2-5 to sign up for the 2011 Gator Basketball summer camp.
    The annual camp, conducted by Coach Dennard and several present BA basketball players, runs from May 31-June 3 from 9 a.m.-noon in the school’s gymnasium. This instructional opportunity will provide campers with basic basketball fundamentals in a relaxed, fun-fill environment. Campers will receive a camp t-shirt and opportunities to win awards in various skill-level competitions.

    The annual camp, conducted by Coach Franklin, Coach Ralton and several varsity players, runs from June 6-9 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Gator Alley. This instructional opportunity will provide campers with basic soccer skills as well as scrimmages and fun games as well as a cool camp t-shirt.
