Local Roundup: SBCPRD releases tourney schedule

    The Statesboro-Bulloch County Parks and Recreation Department has released its 2013 Mill Creek Regional Park Tournament schedule.
    The schedule features both youth and adult baseball/softball tournaments spanning over 28 weekends, March through October. There are eight adult tournaments and 123 youth tournaments listed on the 2013 schedule.
    New for 2013, the Adult Tournaments have new prize packages, with either cash or bats as awards, if at least eight teams register and play in the tournament. The Youth Tournaments will compete for trophies, as well as, team tickets to Splash in the Boro Waterpark.
`The SBCPRD offers USSSA Baseball, GRPA machine pitch, and ASA fast-pitch youth tournaments — along with adult softball.

Effingham tops SEBMS
    Effingham County Middle School topped the Southeast Bulloch Middle School Yellow Jackets, 9-6, on Tuesday.
    Three Effingham runs were unearned.
    Chris Scott went 3-for-4 for SEB, and Joe Ham drove in a pair of runs on a 2-for-4 clip.
    Bryce Harnage struck out six ECMS batters in five innings of work.

SEB to hold dedication
    BROOKLET — Saturday morning at 9 a.m., Southeast Bulloch will hold a dedication at the football field for the "Life of Service Recognition" plaque, which will be dedicated to the Davis family.
    Names of those who have given selflessly of themselves to the Southeast Bulloch community will be added to the plaque each year. The Davis family will be the first added to the plaque.
