Local Roundup: Lady Gamecocks dominate region

    SYLVANIA — The Screven County Gamecocks hosted the 2012 Region 3-AA cross country championships, and the Lady Gamecocks certainly made themselves at home.
    Seven of the region's top eight girl finishers were Gamecocks, and K.B. Scruggs took the title with a time of 22 minutes, 22 seconds.
    Scruggs edged teammates Laura Stuart (2nd — 22:30) and Ashley Harrison (3rd — 22:48.
    Whitney Gay rounded out the Top 5, finishing 5th at 23:33.
    Laney finished second on the girls' side, and Dublin came in third.
    Dublin claimed the region championship on the boys' side.

GSU to "Blue Out" Saturday's game
    The No. 2 Georgia Southern Eagles return home to host a “Blue Out” against No. 15 Appalachian State Saturday at 2 p.m.
    GSU will also put its 14 game home winning streak, the longest active streak in the FCS, on the line at Paulson Stadium this weekend.

SoCon TV wraps with FU/Citadel
    SPARTANBURG, S.C. — The Southern Conference announced the second of two Wild Card selections for the league’s football broadcast package. 
    The Nov. 17 game between The Citadel and Furman will be added to the league’s broadcast schedule and will be available on ESPN3. 
    The final game is scheduled for a 1:30 p.m. kickoff at Paladin Stadium in Greenville, S.C.
