BAcolor

Bulloch Academy senior Jaylen Evans has been selected to play in the 2011 Georgia Independent School Association (GISA) All-Star football game Saturday in Macon.
The event, slated for noon in Mike Gavin Stadium at Mount de Sales’ Cavalier Fields, features players who represent teams from all three classifications of the GISA.
Evans, who will play on the White squad, is listed as split end and defensive back.
The players for each all-star team were selected by the all-star coaches, who were nominated by their peers in the GISA Coaches Association.
The players were picked by position from all senior football players in the GISA, regardless of classification.
Other area student-athletes chosen as all-stars were Jacob Holland and Chris Warren from Robert Toombs Christian Academy in Lyons; Naji Cooley from Bethesda Day School in Savannah; Lamir Cohens from Memorial Day School in Savannah; and Logan Christian and Michael Taylor from Edmund Burke Academy in Waynesboro.
The multi-talented Evans had a stellar season for the Gators, who went 8-3 and made the GISA Class AAA playoffs for a second consecutive season.
Evans carried the ball 68 times for 622 yards and nine touchdowns. He caught 11 passes for 274 yards and three scores. Evans also returned 11 kickoffs for 399 yards and two TDs and four punts for 64 yards. He set a BA single-game record for kickoff return yardage with 175 yards against Bethesda Day School.
Evans was named all-state, all-region and recently was voted by his teammates to receive the squad’s Outstanding Skill Player award.
