Athlete of the Week: Starting something big at SEB
IMG 0467

When the GHSA state wrestling championships commence in Duluth today, three members of the Southeast Bulloch squad will count themselves among the contenders for an individual title.
Last weekend, the Yellow Jackets sent seven wrestlers to the sectional meet in Dublin with Hunter Ferguson, Robert Smith and William Reynolds emerging from their respective weight classes to make the field for the state finals.
“It’s definitely exciting to make it to state,” said Smith. “I think it’s the result of a year full of hard work. I saw where I started the year and improved enough to go to state.”
The group of Jackets will carry on SEB’s budding wrestling legacy.
Started just three years ago, the Jackets have gone from a program struggling to field a full squad to a team that can give any school a tough time on the mat.
