There isn’t a pitcher around who wants to run into Hannah Denmark right now.
Southeast Bulloch’s senior first baseman has been tearing it up at the plate all season and is only getting hotter as the postseason comes into view.
In the Lady Yellow Jackets’ last two games, both wins, Denmark has gone 6-for-8 while scoring five runs and knocking in eight.
“This is my last year, so I’m just trying to work hard and show everybody what I’ve got,” said Denmark. “I try to stay focused and improve a little bit every game.”
Denmark has shown the way for the SEB bats all season. As the Jackets head into their final few games of region play, Denmark leads the team with a .441 batting average, 18 RBIs, 13 runs scored, and a .532 slugging percentage.
This year has seen an abundance of youth get a chance to play for SEB. The Jackets’ future looks to be bright in the coming years and Denmark is doing her part to help her younger teammates develop.
“I’m one of our captains, so that gives me more incentive to work hard and set a good example,” said Denmark. “Everyone has improved since the beginning of the season and I think we have a chance to play really well down the stretch.”
