Athlete of the Week: Oglesby inspires Portal
Oglesby

Usually the Athlete of the Week is coming off of a dominating display on the field.
For Portal’s Hunter Oglesby, it’s all about what he has done off the field.
Oglesby began the season with high hopes. As Portal’s senior quarterback, he was looking forward to using his final season with the Panthers to get the program headed back in the right direction.
But in his first game, Oglesby went down awkwardly and knew something was wrong. He had suffered a torn ACL and MCL in his left knee, ending his season.
“It was really upsetting,” said Oglesby. “It still kills me sometimes to watch the games from the sidelines. Those are my friends and teammates out there and I wish that I could help.”
Though unable to suit up, Oglesby has been helping out, encouraging his fellow Panthers and teaching freshman quarterback Evan Street how to run the offense.
Before Portal’s upset win over ECI last week, it was Oglesby’s words that sent the Panthers out onto the field.
“It got a little emotional,” said Oglesby. “I just told everyone to go out there and play hard. You never know what play might be your last.”
