Another game, another victory, and another Bulloch Academy running back with a big day.
Last Friday, senior wingback Ellis Lane rushed for 146 yards and a touchdown in the Gators’ 42-20 win over Bethesda Day.
For BA, the win put it in a great position to claim a spot in the state playoffs in its first year of competition at the AAA level.
“We’ve played a lot of these teams before,” said Lane. “We know that we can win. We just have to execute everything well.”
Lane has been executing just fine. He led the Gators in rushing last season while averaging over 10 yards per carry.
This year, Lane has lots of company in the backfield as the Gators are loaded with threats. New arrival Lestonz Lewis leads the Gators in rushing this season, but Lane is still averaging well over eight yards each time he touches the ball.
Lane was forced out of last week’s game with a sprained ankle, but is hopeful that any time missed will be minimal before he returns.
“It’s not too big of a deal,” said Lane. “We’ve got some big games coming up. I’ll be ready to go.”
