Athlete of the Week: Harden leads the way at BA
IMG 0471

After a rocky 2010 season, John Harden and the Bulloch Academy boys soccer team are turning things around.
The Gators are off to a 2-2 start this season and Harden’s two goals paced the team during this past weekend’s tournament at Trinity Christian School in Dublin.
Bulloch finished 1-2 in the tournament, but showed how explosive it can be as the Gators rebounded to notch a 4-2 victory over Westfield — which won the Trinity tournament — Tuesday evening.
“I think that gave us a lot of confidence,” said Harden of the win. “We know that Westfield is a good team, but we played our game and beat them.”
As the season wears on, Harden should remain near the top of the goal scoring list for the Gators. The senior started throughout last season as a midfielder, but is now heading the offense as a forward.
“Our new coach (Art Franklin) has us playing really well,” said Harden. “We didn’t lose anyone from last season, so we have a lot of team chemistry.
“Coach Franklin has changed our strategy and a lot of guys are in new positions. I think we’re adjusting well. I like the opportunity to get upfield and score more and I think the new strategy brings out more talent in the team.”
