Poe and Strickland win March tourney

Southern Anglers Challenge held its March tournament on the 17th out of Stokes Bluff Landing on the Savannah River with 23 teams participating. The weather was great with no rain and a slight breeze. The river was low and clear.

The top five finishers are as follows;

—1st; David Poe from Savannah and Tony Strickland form Bloomingdale with five at 18.11 pounds and lunker at 7.89 pounds

—2nd; Barry Durden and Mike Markovic from Rocky Ford with five at 14.68

—3rd; Victor Belagorska from Eden with five at 13.26

—4th; Chad and Don Sherrod from Pooler with five at 12.94

—5th; Aaron Bozeman and Clint Proudfoot from Bloomingdale with five at 12.74

Poe and Strickland received a check for $950 for their winning effort. $530 was given to Durden and Markovic while Belagorska took home $360. Poe and Strickland reported to have caught their fish in Fox Lake above Millstone Landing on a buzz/bait early.

The top three teams in the point standings are David Cole and Tracy Burnsed with 1473, Danny Houck and Eddie Rogers with 1471, and Don and Shad Sherrod with 1471. The point leader at end of the season receives six free entry fees for the 2013 season.

The next tournament will be out of Burtons Ferry on the Savannah River on April 21st.
