The Statesboro-Bulloch County Parks and Recreation Department (SBCPRD) will begin signing up children for winter sports on Monday, November 8. Registration time will change to 2:30 through 5:30 pm since the SBCPRD office hours have changed.
Children ages 4 and up can sign up for basketball, ages 6-17 for soccer camps, and ages 5 -15 for wrestling. Sign up November 8-12 at the Honey Bowen Building, Brooklet Rec Office, Portal Community Center and even online at www.bullochrec.com <http://www.bullochrec.com>  and receive a $10 discount on most programs!
The SBCPRD basketball program provides an opportunity for youth to participate in a fun, organized and safe environment.
Emphasis is placed on the enjoyment of playing basketball while learning basic skills of the game.
The Youth Basketball season runs December through February. All practices and games are held at Bulloch County School gyms.
With the exception of PeeWee Basketball (which meets on Mondays for 6 weeks), most leagues will meet two to three times per week on Tuesdays/Thursdays and Saturdays. Short Stuffs and Minor Boys will meet Mondays/Thursdays and Saturdays. Midget Boys will meet Mondays/Wednesdays and Saturdays. Juniors and Seniors will only meet 1 day a week and Saturdays. The age control date is January 1, 2011.
The fees for basketball are $45 for PeeWee Basketball (4 year olds and parent), $35 for Short Stuffs ($25 during Registration Week), and $50 ($40 during Registration Week) for all other leagues.
SBCPRD will offer Soccer Training this Winter to provide an avenue for soccer players to maintain or polish their skills between the fall and spring seasons. Training will be held December 2–January 27 on Thursday evenings at Mill Creek Park. This Training is $50 per player.  A Christmas Soccer Camp will be held December 20-21 at Mill Creek from 9am- Noon that will be centered on having fun learning the game of soccer! This camp is $40 and is for ages 6 to 17.
The Youth Wrestling program for ages 5 to 15 is instructional in nature, but there may be more competitive options for advanced wrestlers in the program. The goal of this program is to promote health, physical fitness, and good sportsmanship while teaching the fundamentals of wrestling.
The Wrestling season begins in December and ends in February.
The program will meet Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at Julia P Bryant Elementary School.  The fee for this program is $60.
During Winter Sports Registration, participants can also sign up for tennis, swim team, swim lessons and other programs.
