Bulloch Academy point guard Kacie Lanier was converting 48 percent of her 3-point attempts heading into Monday's game against Briarwood. The senior had converted 16 of 33 attempts.
Bulloch Academy's Kacie Lanier doesn't need much to feel comfortable hoisting a long-range jumper.
"Usually for 3-pointers my feet are set and I have that split second to look at the basket before I shoot it," she said.
So far, that's been more than enough. The senior point guard was converting an eye-pooping 48 percent of her 3-pointers (16 of 33) heading into Monday's game against Briarwood.
Describing herself as a bit of a streaky shooter, Lanier said she's been hot so far this season. She’s leading the Lady Gators in scoring with a 10.1 average, good for seventh among all girls in the Herald coverage area.
She's also third overall in free throw percentage (72.0) and fifth in assists (2.57 per game), but make no mistake — Lanier is not one to pass up a good look from behind the arc.
"I'm just taking the open shot and it’s going in," she explained.
Lanier said she’s been shooting hoops since about 5 or 6 years old. Her career-high is five 3s in a game, accomplished just a few weeks ago.
