    Georgia Southern's Chris Beck was named the “Primetime Pitcher of the Week” by CollegeBaseball360.com.
    The sophomore tallied two wins and set a Southern Conference record with 22 strikeouts combined in the SoCon tournament.

Two Eagles receive leadership award
    SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Twenty-five Southern Conference student-athletes were selected as recipients of the sixth annual Coleman Lew Leadership Award, including Brittani Martin and Sebastien Felt of Georgia Southern.
    The Southern Conference and Coleman Lew & Associates, Inc., a national executive search firm, made the announcement Wednesday.
    The award recognizes student-athletes from each of the Southern Conference's 12 member institutions. Athletic directors and representatives from Coleman Lew & Associates conducted one-on-one interviews with the finalists before determining the award winners.
    Coaches, faculty athletic representatives and senior women administrators nominate prospective candidates based on leadership, academic excellence and athletic achievement in both the college environment and the community.
    Martin, a three-year letterwinner for the Georgia Southern cross country and track teams, posted a personal-best mark for a 5K race during the fall of 2009 and ran for two top-eight finishes in the 5,000 meter run during the 2011 outdoor track season. She earned President’s List honors two times for a perfect semester GPA of 4.0 and was named to the Dean’s List three times (3.5 GPA or above).
    A sophomore on the Men’s Tennis team, Felt clinched a team victory for the Eagles against Hampton this past season and contributed in both singles and doubles play. He is a three-time selection to the President’s List and earned Dean’s list honors one semester.
