    Georgia Southern women’s soccer continues its 2012 season this weekend in the final two rounds of the SoCon Tournament.
    The eighth-seeded Eagles ousted No. 1 seed UNCG last Sunday, but needs a pair of wins this weekend to claim the program’s first SoCon Championship.
    The Eagles face fifth-seeded Elon in the first of two semifinals at 6 p.m. at Samford’s Track & Soccer Stadium in Birmingham, Ala.

Fall tennis season wraps for Eagles
    The Georgia Southern women’s tennis team wraps up its fall competition with the Augusta Challenge in Augusta. The tournament starts Friday and runs through Sunday.
    Junior Paola Garrido and freshman Stephanie Woods look to continue strong performances in the team’s fourth and final tournament of the fall.
    Last time out Garrido defeated Kennesaw State’s Alex Apostu 6-4, 6-1 to win the East flight championship match. She also teamed up with Woods to win the Black draw doubles with an 8-5 score in the final.
    Woods excelled in singles play as well, winning the Gold draw with a two-set win of 6-1, 6-2 over Kennesaw State’s Tess Lagerkvist.
    Doubles team Natalie Maffett and Jordana Klein were also successful last week, winning the Gold draw doubles championship match 8-4 over Florida A&M’s Elysia Ortiz and Shantal Blackwood.
    This weekend’s three day tournament provides the Eagles with their last matches until the spring season opener at home against Presbyterian College on Jan. 27.
    The tournament's matches begin at 1 p.m.
