Local Roundup: Eagles to host Fall World Series

    The Georgia Southern baseball team will holds its annual Fall World Series starting Friday. First pitch for the series opener is set for 3:45 p.m. at J.I. Clements Stadium.
    The best of three series continues Saturday and will conclude if necessary on Monday afternoon.
    For the series the team will be divided into two separate squads selected by the team's seniors.
    All games will be held at J.I. Clements Stadium and are open to the public.

GSU women to play 1st night game
    Georgia Southern women’s soccer closes out the 2012 regular season with three-straight home games in a six-day span at Eagle Field including a pair of night contests.         GSU hosts Furman tonight at Eagle Field at 7 p.m.
    On Sunday, the Eagles face Wofford on Senior Day 2012 at 2 p.m. The 2012 regular season comes to an end on Wednesday, Oct. 24 against Davidson at 7 p.m.
    Georgia Southern enters the weekend tied for ninth place in the SoCon with seven points. The Eagles trail Western Carolina by a single point for the final spot in the tournament and are three points back of College of Charleston for seventh place.         Sharing ninth place with the Eagles is The Citadel with seven points, followed by Wofford with five points.

GSU tennis heads to USF tourney
    After a successful fall debut for the 2012-13 Georgia Southern women's tennis team at the Auburn Invitational, the Eagles return to the court at the ITA Regional today.
    Host of the Southeast region, South Florida will hold the four-day tournament at the USF Varsity Tennis Complex.
Klein highlighted GSU's first tournament with a 6-2, 6-0 win over
    The USTA/ITA Regional Championships feature some of the top men's and women's players across the country. Over 8,000 student-athletes from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA, Junior and Community Colleges compete at one of the 87 USTA/ITA Regional Championships held across the country. The tournament is also a qualifier for the national indoor championship.
