After a trip to top-ranked Florida on Tuesday, the Georgia Southern Baseball team remains on the road and out of conference with a trip to Indiana this weekend. The three-game series opens on Friday at 3 p.m. and concludes with games on Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m.
Georgia Southern (22-17) has dug itself out of a 3-6 hole in Southern Conference play with three-straight series victories over SoCon foes. The Eagles will look to continue the momentum against the Hoosiers.
Chris Beck takes the mound in game one of the series for his 10th start of the year and will look to bounce back from a rough first inning against Appalachian State. Justin Hess and Will Middour will round out the weekend rotation. Hess leads the pitching staff in April with a 1-0 record and 1.64 ERA in two starts.
After going four-for-four in Gainesville, Michael Burruss will look to keep a hot bat going into the weekend. Burruss picked up his second four hit game of the season and is second on the team with 16 multi-hit games. Despite a 38-game reached base streak coming to an end, Eric Phillips continues to lead the team with a .379 batting average, 15 doubles and 41 RBIs.
Indiana (16-21) will host its third weekend series of the year and is coming off three-straight home losses to Michigan State and #22 Louisville. The Hoosiers are playing without a pair of highly touted infielders in Micah Johnson and Alex Dickerson. Johnson was tabbed as a Third-Team Preseason All-American by Baseball America but has played in just eight games this season. Indiana has been without Dickerson, one of the top college first baseman in the upcoming 2012 draft, for the entire season.
