Bulloch Academy runs past Robert Toombs, 42-6

            LYONS – Jordan Walker and Ethan Lovett scored a pair of touchdowns each to lead Bulloch Academy to a 42-6 drubbing of Robert Toombs Christian Academy here Friday.

            Walker scored on runs of three and one yard while Lovett hit paydirt from three and 28 yards. Ellis Lane also had a 10-yard scoring jaunt and Walker connected with Will Powell on an 18-yard touchdown pass.

            Bulloch (2-1) tallied 212 yards of total offense (194 on the ground) while an aggressive Gator defense held Robert Toombs (1-2) to just 125 total yards.

            After a 30-minute delay for lightning, the Crusaders took a 6-0 lead on the opening play of their first possession. Working out of the deceptive Wing-T offense, Justin Brinson broke a 21-yard run with 11 minutes left in the first quarter.

            Bulloch answered back when Walker capped a seven-play drive with a one-yard TD run at the 8:33 mark. The big play in the series was David Poole’s 63-yard kickoff return which gave the Gators the short field to work with. On the night, Poole had 130 yards on kickoff and punt returns and 59 yards rushing on eight carries.

            The second quarter belonged to Bulloch as the Gators clicked off 28 points for a 35-6 halftime lead.

            Walker, who led the Gator rushing attack with 60 yards on 10 carries, put the ball in the end zone a second time on a three-yard run at the 9:21 mark.

            It was Lovett’s turn to shine as the senior returned a RTCA punt for 65 yards and then punched the ball into the end zone from three yards out for a 21-6 lead. Lovett rushed for 59 yards on six carries.

            On BA’s next possession, Walker connected with enior receiver Will Powell, who ran a great route and was standing all alone in the end zone, on an 18-yard touchdown pass for a 28-6 lead. After Matthew Sapp recovered a Crusader fumble on the ensuing kickoff, Bulloch punched the ball in once again, this time on a 28-yard run by Lovett, for a 35-16 halftime lead.
