William “Bill” Snipes Norwood
JESUP, Ga. -- William “Bill” Snipes Norwood, 81, passed away Sunday, October 21, 2018, after an extended illness.
    In 1966, Norwood moved his family to Jesup, where he and his wife, Helen, owned and operated Ben Franklin’s 5 & Dime.
    Bill was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church, past president of the Jesup Rotary Club, former Jesup city councilman and a founding member of the Jesup Liars Club.
    Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Helen Estella Henley Norwood of Jesup; two children, William Gary (Kim) Norwood of Cartersville and Cindy Norwood Hart of Statesboro; four grandchildren, Mallory (Jacob) Wheeler of Swainsboro, Tyler (Jessie) Avera of Baxley, Ali (Cory) Evans of Cartersville and Ross Norwood of Cartersville; a brother, Dale (Joyce) Norwood of Kannapolis, N.C.; a sister, Carol (Bob) Thomas of Bryson City, N.C.; several nieces and nephews.
    The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, October 26th, at Epworth First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Duane Harper and Pastor Garth Duke-Barton officiating. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery.
    Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Epworth First United Methodist Church, 675 South Third Street, Jesup, GA 31545.
    Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
