Ms. Laura Jean Bowen
Ms. Laura Jean Bowen, age 67, passed away January 17, 2019, at the Ogeechee Area Hospice inpatient center.
    The Bulloch County native was a 1969 graduate of Statesboro High School.
    Mrs. Bowen had worked 10 years for the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office with the Coastal Correctional Institute.
    She was a member of Crossroads Community Church, a movie buff who loved reading and spending time with her grandchildren.
    Ms. Bowen was preceded in death by her parents, Julian Foster Bowen and Laura Ruth Zeigler Bowen.
    Survivors include a son, Spencer Bowen (Tiffany) of Statesboro; daughter, Dawn Miller of Statesboro; brothers, Julian Bowen (Cheryl), Statesboro; Thomas Bowen (Rosa Lee), Jacksonville, Fla.; Paul Bowen (Sheila), Statesboro; sisters, Barbara Ann Wells (Al), Oxford, Ga.; five grandchildren, Summer Dyches, Anna Bell Hall, Alyla Hall, Maci Bowen and Asher Bowen; two great-grandchildren, Sawyer Grace Ulmer and Waylon Ulmer.
    Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Sunday January 27, 2019, at Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
    A memorial service will begin after the visitation at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
