The community is invited to celebrate the lives of veterans with a showing of Larry Cappetto’s powerful World War II documentary “Lest They Be Forgotten.” The film will be shown 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12 at the Emma Kelly Theater. It is free to the public and sponsored by Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home and Crematory.
The film captures the compelling stories of the men who landed on Omaha Beach during the D-Day invasion of France June 6, 1944, and fought to turn the tide of the war in Europe. The aging veterans tell stories of their own experiences and struggles during a battle that inflicted enormous loss of life. Cappetto’s camera captures the vivid memories with pride, patriotism and dignity.
“We heard about the overwhelming response this film is receiving, and we felt that showing it would be a nice tribute to the veterans in our community,” said Mark Anderson, co-owner of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.
