A woman who set fire to a Statesboro home after being caught inside by the homeowner remains in jail without bond.
Jennifer Stansbury, 36, of Waters Cemetery Road, was rambling inside a Josh Deal Road residence around 10:45 p.m. Thursday when the woman who lives there caught her, said Bulloch County Sheriff Lynn Anderson.
When discovered in the home, Stansbury reacted by throwing and shattering several plates before she fled the house, he said.
The homeowner locked her doors, then looked outside and saw Stansbury set fire to her back porch. The victim called her boyfriend, who also lives at the home, and he arrived to help extinguish the flames, Anderson said.
Stansbury and the victims know each other, he said. The suspect fled the scene, but after both victims confirmed her identification, responding deputies located Stansbury and took her into custody.
She is charged with first-degree arson and first-degree burglary, according to jail records. She is being held without bond, awaiting further court hearings.
