A Statesboro woman faces several charges after reportedly exploiting an elderly person by using her credit cards without permission.

Courtney Idabelle Bailey, 20, of Friendship Church Road, was serving as a caregiver for an elderly woman when she illegally used three different credit cards to make various purchases for her own benefit, said Bulloch County sheriff's Capt. Todd Hutchens.

Over a period of time, Bailey allegedly charged more than $7,000 to the woman's cards without the victim's permission or knowledge, buying personal items for herself as well as paying for meals at restaurants, he said.

After receiving a complaint, investigators gathered evidence and charged Bailey on Monday with three counts of financial transaction card fraud and one count of exploitation of the elderly, he said.

Bailey was taken to the Bulloch County Jail and was released Tuesday on a $10,000 bond, according to jail records. She is expected to make further court appearances regarding the case.
