A woman wanted in an armed robbery Tuesday evening in Metter is behind bars.
Mandy Lynn Jones, 35, of Lyons, Georgia was arrested at a home on Bonnie Road in Toombs County Wednesday night, said Metter Police Chief Dennis Nelson.
Jones is suspected of robbing an elderly woman at gunpoint Tuesday around 5 p.m. in the Bi-Lo grocery store parking lot in Metter.
Jones allegedly pulled a gun on the victim and stole her purse, then later used her credit card in Belk in Vidalia, Nelson said.
Jones is charged by Metter police with armed robbery. Vidalia law enforcement charged her with financial transaction card fraud and forgery, while state probation officers charged her with probation violation, he said. Additional charges are possible from other agencies.
“We are very thankful to have this suspect in custody and are 100% confident that she is our robbery suspect,” he said. “Metter police investigators worked tirelessly on this case the past two days and worked early into the morning hours to make this arrest.”
Other law enforcement agencies involved in the investigation included the Candler County Sheriff’s Office, Toombs County Sheriff’s Office, Vidalia Police Department, Tri Circuit Drug Task Force and the Georgia Department of Corrections Lyons County Probation office.
