A Statesboro woman died Friday morning after being intentionally run over, and the man police say is responsible is in jail.Ebony Tondra-Marie Waters, 23, of Park Place Apartments, was found dead in the parking lot of Palmetto Court Apartments, off U.S. Highway 301 North near North Zetterower Avenue, Statesboro Public Safety Director Wendell Turner said.Statesboro police were dispatched to the scene around 2:54 a.m., regarding a call about a vehicle striking a pedestrian. "The driver of the vehicle left the scene of the incident before the arrival of responding officers," Turner said in a news release. Upon arrival, officers found Waters "lying in the parking lot ... with no obvious signs of life."Bulloch County sheriff's deputies also responded to the scene and assisted police in securing the scene, where Bulloch County EMS technicians and the Bulloch County coroner's office pronounced Waters dead.Deputies also assisted in locating and apprehending Michael Javon Scott, 28, of U.S. 301 North, who was arrested on murder charges, Turner said.
