Statesboro Police, responding to a call from Bulloch County Central 911, met with a man who said two juveniles robbed him of $14 and a cell phone. Within minutes Advanced Patrol Officer John Jones took the two juveniles into custody, charging them with strong arm robbery, battery, false imprisonment and unruly juvenile before taking them to jail.
The juveniles were later transported to Claxton Regional Youth Detention Center, said Statesboro Police Capt. L. C. Williams.
Jones, Officer Antoinette Harris, and Statesboro Police Detectives Kelphie Lundy and Terry Briley met with victim Joseph Harvey at GATE Station on South Main around 2 a.m. Saturday, where Harvey said the two juveniles, later identified as ages 15 and 16, "struck (him) in the face and took $14 cash and a cellular phone," he said.
The teens fled on foot but Jones apprehended them at Little Lotts Creek Apartments. The victim positively identified them as the offenders, and the teens were taken into custody, he said.
The cash was recovered but the cell phone was not, he said.
