Two arrested in Excelsior slaying case

Two men were arrested Wednesday in connection with the killing of a man whose body was found Saturday on the side of a Candler County road. Georgia Bureau of Investigation Special Agent-in-Charge Cathy Sapp said Denzel Akins and Rashad Jones were taken into custody Wednesday in the death of Perry Herbert, 24, whose address has not yet been released. Herbert’s body was discovered around 5 p.m. Saturday on Excelsior Church Road in Excelsior, a Candler County community near Metter and Pulaski.
