A third Bulloch County student was diagnosed with MRSA, a strain of staph infection that is resistant to treatment, said Bulloch County Assistant School Superintendent Lynda Yawn.

            The student is a Southeast Bulloch Middle School student. Previously, a Statesboro High School student and a Southeast Bulloch High School student were diagnosed with MRSA.

            Bulloch County School Superintendent Dr. Lewis Holloway met with school officials and Bulloch County Health Department officials Monday to educate people about the staph infection, and to review janitorial and hygienic procedures, Yawn said. All school facilities, including school buses, are being cleaned with extra care and diligence to prevent spreading MRSA, she said.
