Teen charged in Maple Street burglary

A teenager has been arrested in connection with a burglary last week on Maple Street, police said.Statesboro police responded to a home in the 200 block of Maple Street at noon Oct. 9 in reference to a burglary. The complainant told officers that someone entered his home between 9:45 a.m. and noon and took clothing, electronics and jewelry, Public Safety Director Wendell Turner said in a news release.The next day, a woman in a neighboring home said she found items in one of her rooms that didn't belong to her. She contacted the resident who had been burglarized, and he identified it as his, so the items were returned to him, Turner said.After further investigation by Detective Keith Holloway and Cpl. Dena Colson, Delroy Barrett Jr., 17, of Maple Street, was arrested and charged with burglary.
