Suspect apprehended by police, faces multiple charges
Mock
Ricky Edward Mock, 51, is being held in Friday armed robbery of Statesboro Pizza Hut restaurant.
Forget last-minute shopping for Christmas. For a Sylvania man Friday, it was more like last-minute robbing.
Friday, just before 10 p.m., Statesboro Police were called to Pizza Hut on South Main Street where a woman told them she had been robbed.
Advanced Patrol Officer Marcus Hartwell responded to the scene, followed by Det. Tommy Brown, who questioned the female victim, said Statesboro Police Capt. L. C. Williams.
The woman said a white male with " a pepper-colored beard, blue jeans, a green hood, and a semi-automatic hand gun" came into the restaurant, "walked up to the register ... stuck a black hand gun in her side and demanded money," he said.
The man fled the store and ran across Grady Street, the crossed South Main Street, going between two buildings across from First Southern National Bank, Williams said.
Police officers quickly set up a perimeter and found the suspect, chasing him into a wooded area behind Shoney's, he said.
When police caught the man, they identified him as Ricky Edward Mock, 51, Quail Ridge Drive, Sylvania.
Mock was taken to the Bulloch County Jail, charged with armed robbery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, use of a firearm during the commission of a crime by a convicted felon, kidnaping, and aggravated assault.
Mock was convicted in a 1988 burglary in Bulloch County as well as an armed robbery incident in 1981, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections web site (www.dcor..state.ga.us).
Other previous convictions for which Mock served five different terms in prison include theft of a motor vehicle or parts , criminal attempt, theft by taking and burglary, all in Chatham County, according to the web site.
He is being held without bond, according to Bulloch County Jail records.
