Statesboro woman killed in car crash

    An elderly  Statesboro woman was killed Tuesday morning in a car crash on U.S. 80 West near Burkhalter Road.
    Around 10:22 a.m., Jack Sapp, 76, Magnolia Church Road, was driving south on Burkhalter Road, approaching the intersection with U.S. 80 East, according to Georgia State Patrol reports.
    Larry Bouchillon, 75, West Morning Street,Swainsboro, was driving east on U.S. 80 at the same time, reports stated.
    Sapp failed to stop at the intersection and pulled into Bouchillon’s path. Bouchillon’s vehicle struck Sapp’s vehicle in the right side.
    Sapp’s vehicle began spinning, traveling along the roadway about 53 feet, leaving the roadway and continuing sliding 45 more feet along the shoulder until stopping.
    Bouchillon’s vehicle went into a spin as well, traveling 37 feet along the roadway until it came to a stop in the road, GSP troopers reported.
    Passenger Ethel Sapp, 73, Jack Sapp’s wife, was killed upon impact, according to reports.
