Statesboro Police are investigating a reported rape an abduction after a 16-year-old girl told them two males sexually assaulted her in a local hotel room.
The teen contacted police Sunday around 3:45 p.m., an hour and a half after she said she escaped from a Howard Johnson's hotel room, said Statesboro Police Chief Stan York.
The girl told Statesboro Police Det. Keith Holloway two men she knows "abducted her around 9:30 p.m. Friday," and she was able to leave the hotel room around 2:15 p.m. Sunday, he said. The girl told Holloway she had been kept against her will, and sexually assaulted.
No arrests have been made in the incident, which is still being actively investigated, he said. The girl was not injured.
Holloway is also investigating another sexual assault report, he said.
A man called Statesboro Police to Varsity Lodge Apartments, wanting to file a report that he was being slandered, according to police incident reports.
The man said a woman was spreading rumors by telling her friends he had raped her. When police questioned the woman, she told them the man "possibly raped her while she slept" around 4:30 a.m. Sunday.
No arrests were made in that incident either, York said, but the case is also under investigation.
