Statesboro-Bulloch Crime Suppression Team targets drug activity

Statesboro-Bulloch Crime Suppression Team investigators rounded up 23 suspects within the past month as part of an effort to reduce drug activity in the area.

The CST, made up of Bulloch County sheriff's deputies, Statesboro police officers and Georgia Southern University police officers, "conducted a series of operations aimed at reducing drug activity in certain areas ... prior to the beginning of fall semester at Georgia Southern University," Bulloch County Sheriff Lynn Anderson said in a news release issued Monday.

"These operations consisted of a combination of concentrated patrols in high-intensity drug areas, the use of confidential informants, undercover purchases of narcotics, and the service of several search warrants," he said.

The 23 suspects were arrested on a variety of felonies.

"Investigators hope that these operations will help reduce overall street crimes and deter local sellers from setting up shop as students return to the area in the coming weeks," Anderson said.

Suspects arrested in the CST operations include the following:

• Michael Aikens, 33, Mikell Street — possession of cocaine, possession of an imitation controlled substance, giving false information.
• Laterrell Alexander, 25, Sterling Drive, Hartwell, Ga. — sale of Oxycontin, possession of Oxycontin with intent to distribute.
• Jacob Boan, 18, Pate Place — possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, unlawful use of communications facilities, tampering with evidence.
• James Campbell, 33, Old Stagecoach Road — possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, sale of marijuana, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of schedule III controlled substance, possession of drug-related object, probation violation.
• Elijah Cone, 17, Lewis Street — possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of drug-related object.
• John Connely, 38, Simpsontown Road, Newington — possession of cocaine, possession of a drug-related object.
• Ricky Connely, 44, Henry Street — possession of cocaine, possession of drug-related object, felony probation violation.
• James Curry, 20, Rucker Lane — sale of Oxycontin, possession of Oxycontin with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana.
• Dieon Evans, 22, Gus Denmark Road — sale of cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, tampering with evidence, unlawful use of a communications facility, possession of a schedule II controlled substance, possession of a schedule III controlled substance, obstruction.
• Shakeem Hagins, 22, Star Avenue, Savannah — possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana, obstruction, loitering and prowling.
• Donyah Hardaway, 18, Orange Street — possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of drug-related object.
• Ricky Joe Harden, 43, Lindsay Court — sale of cocaine, sale of a schedule II controlled substance, sale of schedule IV controlled substance, sale of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a schedule II controlled substance, possession of schedule IV controlled substance, driving while license suspended, Superior Court bench warrant, wanted out of Floyd County for probation violation.
• Chance Harkins, 19, Georgia Avenue — possession of marijuana, possession of drug-related object.
• Crystal Jackson, 26, BJ Clifton Road — sale of cocaine, possession of marijuana.
• Julius James, 47, Everett Lane, Brooklet — possession of cocaine, tampering with evidence, possession of marijuana, DUI, fleeing/attempting to elude.
• Burnice Johnson, 36, Old Stagecoach Road — possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana.
• Dylan Koch, 19, Georgia Avenue — possession of marijuana, possession of drug-related object.
• Brenda Lawson, 54, Mikell Street — possession of a schedule II controlled substance.
• Antonio Parks, 30, Johnson Street — sale of cocaine, unlawful use of communications facilities, possession of marijuana.
• Anthony Pryor, 34, Mikell Street — sale of a schedule II controlled substance.
• Jimmy Raymond, 66, Overland Street — possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, obstruction, possession of drug-related object, probation violation.
• Jason Solise, 29, East Elmhurst, Queens, N.Y. — possession of cocaine, tampering with evidence, giving false information, possession of marijuana.
• Tammie Tardiff, 33, Institute Street — possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, probation violation.
